The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has established the Film Development Fund (FDF) in the Information department for the fiscal year 2022-23, for the disbursement of subsidies provided for in the J&K Film Policy 2021.

To effectively implement J&K Film’s ambitious policy, the government last year allocated Rs 500 crore to be paid over the next five years to financially support the development of a vibrant film ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. This policy is valid for five years from the date of notification.

According to the Film Policy, “Starting from fiscal year 2022-23, a separate account will be created as Film Development Fund, in the Information Department and an annual budget allocation of Rs. The Finance Department will pay Rs 100 crore for the remainder of the Film Policy term for subsidy disbursement to eligible recipients/filmmakers who have applied for the same.”

The Jammu and Kashmir Film Development Council (JKFDC) would be the single point of contact to support the development of a vibrant film ecosystem in UT and will exclusively oversee the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Film Policy.

To ensure the effective implementation of the film policy and make relevant facilities available to filmmakers, a Film Promotion and Facilitation Committee headed by the relevant District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioners) has been established at the district level.

The committee is mandated to monitor the shooting-related activities and ensure the stay in the government guest house/tourist accommodation by paying and issuing a time-limited certificate from the office of the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner ) regarding the days of shooting after the shooting. it’s over. It will ensure prompt disposition of complaints addressed to offices at the district level.

The committee takes the necessary steps by convening a meeting of the Film Promotion and Facilitation Committee within seven days of receiving instructions from JKFDC regarding the application. After permission is granted by JKFDC, a Nodal Administrative Officer will coordinate with the Committee to facilitate the shooting of the film to completion.
